OSCAR DE LA RENTA

A tribute to a style legend, the epitome of true elegance...Oscar de la Renta.

Oscar de la Renta was born to a prominent family in the Dominican Republic. He left his native land at the age of 18 to study painting in Spain, but soon became sidetracked by fashion.  That led to an apprenticeship with Cristobal Balenciaga, and then he moved to France to work for couture house Lanvin.  By 1963, he was working for Elizabeth Arden couture in New York and in 1965 had launched his own label.

Oscar de la Renta is one of the leading fashion houses in the world.  Mr. de la Renta's designs in fashion and home are influenced by his childhood in the Dominican Republic where his days were surrounded by color, flowers, and sunshine.

He told the Associated Press in 2004 that his Hispanic roots had worked their way into his designs.

"I like light, color, luminosity.  I like things full of color and vibrancy," he said.

"Style begins by looking good naked," he said in a 2013 interview with the U.K.'s Telegraph newspaper.  "It's a discipline.  And if you don't dress well every day, you lose the habit.  It's not about what you wear, but how you live your life."

His home furnishings, like his clothing, represent extraordinary style, refinement, and elegance.

His ability to bring his creative vision to life constantly makes a woman and a room look their best.
