MAGNIFICENT IN MADRID

This sophisticated and dramatic palette defines the residence of interior designer Raul Martins.  An apartment sitting in a 19th century building in the heart of Madrid, this home is a classic-contemporary.  The designer redecorated the space while respecting the character of the building.  Most of the original elements have been preserved but the apartment also got a modern update.

The apartment originally had a less functional structure; compartmentalized into too many small rooms.  The designer changed the interior structure in order to create larger, airy and more spacious areas.  Due to all the original elements, the restoration needed to be restricted, therefore preserving the moldings, trim and plaster throughout the apartment.

The living room and dining area still have the original marble tiles while the bedroom and library have ceramic and checker tiles.  The apartment has an eclectic vibe due to the mixing of old and new.  Overall, this home maintains an elegant and classy disposition but also very inviting and comfortable.
