Classic, clean and inherently chic, nothing quite makes a statement like black, white and gold.  Words like dramatic, sophisticated, classic and chic can all be great descriptives.  The key when working with this color palette is exercising full control over balance and scale.  Too much of one color can overwhelm a design.  When used carefully and in proportion, black, white and gold add up to a chic and stylish combination.

With a few tasteful pieces added in your decor, your home can be just as chic and gorgeous!

For my birthday weekend, I had the chance to spend some time in Kingston, Ontario where my hubby and I enjoyed a lovely dinner cruise touring the islands of the St. Lawrence River.  The 1,864 islands range in size from over 40 square miles to smaller islands occupied by a single residence.  I was completely in awe of some of the beautiful and solitary homes perched on a tiny island, surrounded by shimmering waters and nature's beauty.  As the boat passed by these residences, I became infatuated and started daydreaming of what it would be like to live on an island.  Well, it doesn't hurt to dream.....

Rose Gold is definitely having a moment right now, and I am totally in love.  It's cropping up in many areas of design - fashion, jewelry and home design. Nothing says glamorous like a few rose gold home decor accessories to brighten a room.

Jacques Garcia, renowned architect and interior designer, has made his life into a work of art.  A lover of art and history, he is also at heart a collector with an exceptional talent for bringing out the soul of places.  His signature style is an exotic mix of 17th and 18th century references based upon his French heritage. His work speaks boldly and with uncommon impact.  His style stands out around the world as the hallmark of luxury and glamour.

This man of genius created a work of art with the Selman Palace Hotel in Marrakech, Morocco.  The 56 room Moorish Palace at the foot of the Atlas Mountains is elegant and sumptuous.  Architectural details such as mosaics, high arches and columns are complemented by Garcia's plush interiors and high-voltage palette of rose reds, ochres, lemon yellows and regal purples.  Selman Marrakech offers a unique experience founded on innovative luxury and equestrian passion.  Stables house 16 beautiful Arabian horses that can be used by guests for treks.

In his collection for Baker Furniture, he takes your breath away once again with his larger than life spirit and sense of soul.  He is expressive and energetic.  He is optimistic and inspired.  And it's that enthusiasm that makes this collection so alive and so full of desire.

"The rules of beauty defined by the antique world are a solid foundation-unique, perfect and unparalleled-on which I rest without ever getting bored or disappointed.  Perfect knowledge of those rules is what releases new creativity in me.  Its codes are found in the elegance of proportions, in the studs of sofas and beds, and desks and coffee tables; in the wrought-iron X of antique bases, in the clover shape of Gothic churches... The pieces are a mix of very different, or even opposite universes coming together, to invite everyone to be themselves." - Jacques Garcia
