I HEART THIS ART

Every now and then, I come across some amazing pieces of art from artists and photographers alike, and since recently I haven't been able to put this particular photographer and her work out of my mind.  I am a little surprised that I would fall so hard because her style is not something that I would usually gravitate to, but she has captivated me with her stunning and powerful photography.  The artist in question is none other than Stephanie Vovas.  She is a true genius.  The color of her photography is incredible and I love the feeling each image evokes.  Most of her work is infused with a 70's vibe which really resonates with my love for retro design.  Stephanie's photography has truly won me over and owning one of her prints has become an absolute must have in my home. You can view her spectacular collection here.

THE RUG COMPANY

I have long admired and appreciated the beauty of the rugs at The Rug Company designed by some of the world's most inspired and respected designers.  They are masters of print, art, architecture, interior and product design.  The Rug Company worked closely with each designer, harnessing their creative brilliance and translating their unique vision into beautiful rugs.

I have chosen some of my favorites rugs from The Rug Company and compiled them here for your viewing pleasure; they surely all are a work of art and inspiration. Being both sophisticated and classic, these rugs are made of hand-knotted Tibetan wool and silk; beauty and comfort has never looked so good.

From the moment it launched, the Diane Von Furstenberg rug collection seduced with its witty patterns, which are at the same time sexy and sophisticated.
"Animal inspiration is classic DVF and this Climbing Leopard print is no exception.  In a lush emerald with leopard shapes that add depth and dimension, this statement piece is perfect for a dramatic entryway." - Diane Von Furstenberg

Tim Gosling's rug designs are based on his love of the Art Deco movement in London, using design language born out of an historic sense of architecture and history.  The Deco Spiral rug was inspired by the clean, monochrome lines of Hay's Wharf Building, completed in the early 1930s on London's riverfront.

Rockwell's collection for the Rug Company is based on graphic and textural explorations derived from his diverse projects; the designs are at the same time sophisticated and playful.

"The Catella rug is a classical design, strict and sophisticated.  It adds glamour to any room." - Emily Todhunter

British fashion designer Giles Deacon is known for his playful, quirky, glamorous and sexy designs.  Many of his designs feature a signature "twist", exemplifying his subversive aesthetic and rendering them conversational pieces.

Los Angeles based interior designer and tastemaker Kelly Wearstler has become a household name for her luxurious and glamorous designs.
"Drawing inspiration form the natural veining of stone and marble, the organic line work of Tracery shifts and shimmers as the light hits the silk threads." - Kelly Wearstler

The Rug Company's Co-Founder and Creative Director, Suzanne Sharp is celebrated as an artistic mastermind and pioneer of rug design.  Her fearless creative energy and instinctive approach to design have enabled her to create covetable and distinctive rug collections.
A classical symmetrical key motif is repeated and twisted into a diagonal plane.  The pattern is then overlaid to produce a three dimensional effect in shades of green and charcoal.

BLACK, WHITE AND SOMETIMES GOLD

Black is by definition the most elegant color, add in its counterpart white, sprinkle a little gold and you've got a winning combination.  Nothing packs a more powerful punch than this bold color combination, whether it's for interior design or fashion and style.  It is also a versatile combination as it works well with other colors, such as brights, muted colors or neutrals.  To me, black, white and gold is exotic, sexy and glamorous.

Black, white and gold can be seen here in our pillow collection;
